People's Book (Takoma Park)

7014 Westmoreland Ave Suite A, Takoma Park, MD 20912

Fridays at 9am

  • Description: Babies & Books! Join us for our biweekly baby storytime! Designed with kiddos 3 and under in mind, pediatrician Anjali Jain will lead the group in reading a mix of new board books, classics tales, and some songs & rhymes as well! Need more to convince you? FREE coffee for any caregivers! See you there!

  • Accessibility: The story time is in the back of the bookstore. Many caretakers leave their strollers outside or in the stationary section of the store.  

  • Getting there:

    • Metro: Takoma (Red line), multiple Metrobus and Ride On routes

    • Walking: Walker’s paradise

    • Car: Parking lot behind ACE Hardware, enter the lot on Westmoreland Ave and enter the bookstore near House of Musical Traditions. Plenty of street parking in the neighborhood. 

  • Bathroom: Yes! For customers/story time attendees only

  • DCSAHP Tip: This story time space is ideal for pre-walkers, but babies and toddlers of all ages will find the programming exciting


Solid State Books (H Street) 

600F H St NE, Washington, DC 20002

Thursdays and Saturdays at 10:30am

  • Description: Story Time is held every Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday at 10:30 am until 11:00 am a visiting author/illustrator, or staff. Thursday story time is for babies and toddlers, Saturday is for all ages 0-5, and Sunday is for 4 and up.

  • Getting there:

    • Metro: Union Station (Red line), multiple bus routes

    • Walking: Walker’s paradise

    • Car: Plenty of street parking in the neighborhood. 

  • Bathroom: Yes! For customers/story time attendees only


East City Bookshop (Eastern Market)

645 Pennsylvania Ave. SE #100, Washington, DC 20003

Thursdays at 11:30am

  • Description: Join East City Bookshop every Thursday at 11:30 AM for silly songs, great books, and all around fun. For Kids ages 0-4 with a caregiver. 

  • Accessibility: The story time is in the subterranean bookstore so you will have to navigate two sets of stairs. Many caretakers leave their strollers outside under a covered portico. 

  • Getting there:

    • Metro: Eastern Market metro (Orange, Silver, and Blue lines), multiple bus routes

    • Walking: Walker’s paradise

    • Car: Plenty of street parking in the neighborhood. You can also use Trader Joe's parking garage, enter on C St SE, free with validation

  • Bathroom: Yes! For customers only

  • DCSAHP Tip: If you are driving, leave the stroller in the car


Loyalty Bookstore (Silver Spring)

923 Gist Avenue, Silver Spring, MD.

Second Sunday of the Month at 11am

  • Description: Drag Story Hour takes place on the second Sunday of the month at 11am.

  • Accessibility: Inside Bump & Grind Coffee Shop Analog Market, a red brick building with multiple stairs leading from the street level up to the front door. 

  • Getting there:

    • Metro: Silver Spring (Red line), multiple bus routes

    • Walking: Walker’s paradise
